This is a progression of a work I have exhibited based on the French poem Afternoon of a Faun (1865, Stéphane Mallarme). I created and performed (live drawing) it at an event in front of a few hundred people. The theme is states of wakefulness. Inspiring many, Debussy composed the beautiful and haunting song Prelude To The Afternoon Of A Faun and Nijinsky’s 1912 Ballet Russes performance Afternoon of a Faun, is based on the poem. The mythological faun has woken from his afternoon sleep and discusses his encounter with several nymphs in a dreamlike, sensual monologue - moves back and forth between memories and fantasy, dreams and reality, disenchantment and intoxication.
